Sylvain Guintoli will return to the MotoGP paddock to replace the injured Loris Capirossi at Pramac Ducati for the next two races.
The Frenchman, who now races in World Superbike for Effenbert Ducati, told British Eurosport he will test for Pramac at Mugello on Monday, then race for the team at Sachsenring and Laguna Seca.
Guintoli took one podium during five years as a 250cc grand prix rider, before racing in MotoGP for Tech 3 Yamaha in 2007 and then Pramac Ducati in 2008.
Guintoli, who moved to BSB in 2009 then WSBK in 2010, took a best MotoGP finish of fourth at Motegi 2007.
Capirossi was injured during qualifying at Assen last weekend.
